Behind every number is a person working toward a new beginning and greater opportunity. đź’™

From 1,988 expungement petitions completed to 1,300 client referrals, JAC’s work is about more than numbers. It’s about helping remove barriers, connecting people to resources, and creating clearer paths toward stability and brighter futures.

Every petition completed and every connection made represents another opportunity for someone to move forward.

The numbers tell a story—and we’re proud to keep doing the work. ⚖️

Your past does not automatically determine your ability to participate in the democratic process.

One of the biggest misconceptions surrounding felony convictions is that a conviction means you can never vote again. That is not necessarily true in Louisiana. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible to register and vote. Louisiana’s eligibility rules allow some people with felony convictions to register, depending on their current order-of-imprisonment status and how long it has been since incarceration.

ISSC is committed to making sure impacted people have accurate information about their voting rights and know where to find answers.

DON’T ASSUME YOU CAN’T VOTE. CHECK YOUR STATUS.

Louisiana voters can check their registration through the Louisiana Secretary of State Voter Portal. Select “Search By Voter” and enter your first and last name, ZIP code, and birth month/year. You can also check through the GeauxVote mobile app.

Congratulations are in order for JAC’s very own Clare Fitzpatrick! 🎉⚜️

After months of dedication, studying, and hard work, Clare successfully passed the Louisiana Notary Examination and earned her notary public commission!

As JAC’s Intake Specialist and Paralegal, Clare plays an important role in helping us serve Louisianans impacted by the criminal legal system. Adding notarial services to her skill set also strengthens our in-house capacity, helping our legal team streamline services and better meet the needs of the people we serve.

Please join us in celebrating Clare on this incredible accomplishment! We are so proud to have her on ! 💙👏

Every gift, no matter the size, helps us continue creating opportunities for second chances and brighter futures.

Yesterday, JAC was proud to once again have a seat at the table as community leaders, advocates, and organizations from across Louisiana came together for another Reignite Louisiana convening.

These conversations matter. Creating meaningful, lasting change requires all of us to be in the room—sharing perspectives, listening to the experiences of our communities, building relationships, and working collectively toward solutions.

JAC is proud to participate in spaces like these and to help ensure that the voices and experiences of justice-impacted people remain part of the conversations shaping Louisiana’s future.

Thank you to A Bella La Femme Society for continuing to create opportunities for collaboration, honest dialogue, and collective action.

We’re not just showing up—we’re helping shape the conversation and the outcomes. Together, we can continue working toward a more just and equitable Louisiana. 💙⚖️

Happy Labor Day from the Justice & Accountability Center of Louisiana! 💙🩵

Today, we recognize the hardworking people whose dedication, talent, and service keep our communities moving forward. From those working behind the scenes to those serving on the front lines, your contributions matter.

At JAC, we believe strong communities are built when people have access to opportunity, dignity, fairness, and a real chance to thrive.

As we celebrate Labor Day, we honor the workers across Louisiana who show up every day to provide for their families, strengthen their communities, and help build a better future for us all.

Thank you for all that you do. Happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸

JAC was proud to attend Reignite Louisiana’s inaugural Statewide Steering Committee Meeting, hosted by A Bella La Femme Society.

Creating a better Louisiana requires all of us to have a seat at the table—community members, advocates, organizations, leaders, and most importantly, people directly impacted by the systems we are working to change.

At JAC, we understand the importance of being present in spaces where conversations are happening, decisions are being shaped, and solutions are being developed. Our role is not only to provide resources and support to justice-impacted individuals, but also to advocate, collaborate, build partnerships, and help shape outcomes that move our communities forward.

We are grateful to A Bella La Femme Society for bringing diverse voices together and creating space for honest dialogue about the issues affecting communities across our state.

Progress happens when we come together, listen to one another, and turn conversation into action. JAC is proud to have a seat at the table—and to help ensure the communities we serve have one, too. 💙⚖️
