Dear Council Members Nadine Ramsey, Jason Williams, James Gray, and Jared Brossett,
As a resident of the French Quarter and the President of the French Quarter Advocates I would like to commend you on a job well done on your votes to deny this appeal. It was obvious you did your homework and understood the reality of Mr. Meenan's concept and plan for his restaurant on this abandoned and dilapidated corner. Turning this old gas station and pharmacy into a full service restaurant with seating capacity of 152, not the 400-900 as proposed by the opposition, will only anchor this commercial corner as a thriving tax revenue producing business creating jobs and a safer environment for the residents of three different neighborhoods.
I appreciate, as well as many of your constituents do, your ability to set aside personal obligations to serve the needs of the greater public. Your professionalism and ability to ask relevant questions to Mr. Meenan without the intent of causing embarrassment did not go unnoticed and should be the standard for all members of the City Council.
Hopefully, in the near future, we will all be together for the "Ribbon Cutting" of Cafe Habana, showing everyone how residents, business owners, and City Government can come together for the good of all.
Sincerely,
Bryan K. Drude
