For those of you who are not aware, the 2024 legislative session ended today. We have been at it since January working hard with the new Governor to improve Louisiana’s standing. Now that our work is done for this year, I am glad to get back to my law practice. I have enjoyed many days in Baton Rouge over the last six months, but by far the best day was last week when these little guys came to visit. Being a grandparent is the best.

Today Governor Landry signed my SB 166 which will require imported seafood to be clearly labeled as such. For too long China and other countries have used our Cajun heritage to market their inferior seafood to the detriment of our Louisiana fisherman. This is just one bill passed this year to support our Louisiana Seafood Industry. Do not be decived. Make sure when you buy your seafood you know where it comes from.

GREAT NEWS! The Hope Haven Historical Marker has been found. It was sold to a local scrap dealer and then to another scrap dealer who reported buying it. It was cut in half but it will be repaired and put back where it belongs. A criminal investigation is underway. Thanks JPSO and PPSO for working this case. Please share this good news.

Heartbreaking discovery today: vandals removed the 100-year-old historical marker from the front of the Hope Haven Building, documenting its construction in 1925 during Archbishop Shaw's tenure. JPSO notified and working the case. Please share this post. Hopefully we can find the sad individual who stole the marker and recover this piece of history.
