⚖️ Connecticut Child Support Guidelines Have Changed
For the first time since 2015, Connecticut has updated its Child Support Guidelines.
Effective August 1, 2026, the new guidelines change how child support is calculated — and for many Connecticut families, the updated calculations may result in higher child support obligations.
One significant change is the expansion of the child support schedule. Previously, the guidelines covered parents with a combined net weekly income of up to $4,000. The new schedule extends that amount to $6,000 per week, bringing more higher-income families directly within the guideline calculations.
The updated schedule also increases child support amounts at many income levels, reflecting changes that have occurred since the previous guidelines were adopted in 2015.
What does this mean for you?
If you are establishing child support or considering a modification of an existing order, the new guidelines could affect the amount of support calculated in your case.
Every family’s circumstances are different, and the guideline calculation is only one part of determining an appropriate child support order.
