✨Update Time✨

Summer was amazing but as much as I don’t want to let go, it’s time for Fall and getting back to business 😁

As for school, I started my Fall semester the last week of August. So far, it’s been relatively smooth. The classes I am taking include:

-City & Urban Politics
-The American Presidency
-Politics of Sport
-International Terrorism

These subjects are incredibly interesting and I am thrilled to be studying these as they directly relate to my Major unlike gen eds 😂 Hoping for a great semester!

As for my elected position, tonight my town is having our motor vehicle tax appeals meeting. I look forward to meeting with those wishing to appeal their car tax and gaining knowledge from this experience as well.

Welp, that is my mini life update since I have not posted in a bit 😂

🇺🇸 Photos from the “July In The Sky” event in Rockville, Connecticut last night. I had the opportunity to assist our future senator, Jeff Gordon, with introducing himself to the voters. I enjoyed tagging along, handing out his cards, and listening to Jeff really talk about the issues with the people. Overall, a great night 😌

Today I served as a delegate for the first time at the Republican Congress Convention in Westbrook, Connecticut. Had the opportunity to meet many incredible people from different RTC’s around Connecticut. I was also honored to meet Mike France, who will officially be running against Joe Courtney for a seat in U.S. Congress.

‼️Update‼️

I finished my first session as an elected member of The Board of Assessment Appeals in March. While initially disappointed, I am extremely thankful that there were so few appeals as it gave me an opportunity to learn the role without time pressures. During the session, I had the opportunity to meet with the chairperson for The Board of Assessment Appeals and the town tax assessor. During these meetings, I was able to obtain a basis of the appeals process and was introduced to the appeals for the session. Wanting to familiarize myself with these appeals, I was able to take the time to study them beforehand (which eased a lot of my anxiety before meeting with those wanting to appeal). Luckily, the rest of the process went very smoothly. I met with some of the appeal applicants and was able to learn from the chairperson. As well, I had the opportunity to tour a property that was appealing their tax assessment. Overall, I learned much from this session and am looking forward to applying this knowledge again in September for the motor vehicle tax assessment appeals.

As for school, I have three weeks left! Having only done part-time college this semester, I can say the semester went by way faster than it usually does. Overall, all my grades are A’s (so far). All that’s left for me is a few projects and finals! Then Summer classes begin after Memorial Day. Excited to get a small break before then, however.

That’s all I have for personal updates currently. Looking forward to being a delegate in two weeks time! 😁

🎓Finally Received My Political Science Associates Degree! Degree #2 Is Here!👩🏼‍🎓

On December 30th, 2021 I received an email stating I had completed all my requirements for a second associates degree in political science. Needless to say, it was a long wait but I finally received my degree certificate!

As soon as I finished my paralegal studies associates degree in May of 2021, I spent all Summer and Fall completing the classes I needed to receive this degree as I wanted to transfer by Spring time. I had taken a plethora of Summer classes and a full schedule in the Fall (5 classes). While it was stressful trying to complete all the requirements in such a short span, I was able to do it and even receive dean’s list for the Fall of 2021.

Thankful for having completed this degree. Almost one year exactly until I finish my bachelors degree in political science. I am excited and ready!

Probably one of the most chaotic, yet most intelligent decisions I made in my life was choosing to work full time while attending college full time. While handling both does take a toll on you, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Here are three reasons why I chose to work full time while in college:

1. I didn’t want to be another broke college student. I had no desire to work a dinky part time job making little money to sustain myself. As well, I wanted money to finance my education and avoid debt as much as possible. So far, I am on my third year of college and haven’t taken out a single loan. I have paid everything out of pocket or through scholarships. As well, I wanted money in order to move out right after college and finance my hobbies (which include hiking and travel).

2. I wanted work experience and to make connections early on. Working a professional job in college means you won’t have to scramble as much for experience post-graduation and it will make you more desirable to employers who are looking for more experienced workers. As well, working such jobs allows you to meet many people in the professional world and grow your connections. These connections are crucial as they may help you in the long run when looking for further employment and opportunities.

3. I wanted to build a good work ethic and a good routine. Working and going to school at the same time is exhausting, however, it does allow you to learn good work ethic. As well, it allows you to build a solid work routine so you feel less lost when you leave college.

These are just a few reasons why I chose this. I know full time school and full time work is not for everyone and that is completely okay! Go at your own pace and know when it’s time for a break 😊

Dealing with burnout? You are not alone in the slightest.

What is burnout? Burnout is defined as “Exhaustion of physical or emotional strength or motivation usually as a result of prolonged stress or frustration”. In more basic terms, it means that you’re exhausted from doing too much. Common symptoms include loss of motivation, feeling like a failure, and feelings of defeat.

Having done full time school and full time work for two and a half years, I started to experience these symptoms in the Fall. I became unmotivated when it came to both work and school. Luckily, I am taking the extra time I have this semester to recover.

Here are a few tips that have helped me with burnout:

1.) Stop taking on more than you can handle! Even if an opportunity is great, you have to think about how much time you can dedicate. If you’re already booked and burnout, it’s okay to say “no”. Bigger and better opportunities will come, have faith. Adding activities to your already busy schedule won’t give you proper time to recover from burnout, in fact, it will make you more burnt out .

2.) Work on yourself mentally! I think many people in their busy lives forget to take the time to improve on this when it is incredibly crucial to recovering and becoming a new, motivated person.

3.) Work on yourself physically! Health is wealth. Even if you can’t afford a gym or don’t have time, simple 10-15 minute home work outs and walks/ runs outside will do. I guarantee, you will feel a lot more confident and energized in the end. This plethora of new energy, confidence, and much more will do more than assist in curing your burnout.

4.) Take a break! Take it easy on you and find time to relax. This relaxation period will allow your body and mind to feel fresh and motivated when work or school comes around.

5.) Find activities that distract your from work or school! Doing activities you love will calm you and make you fresh for the next day of school or work.

✨Officially 21✨

Incredibly thankful for another year around the sun and all the blessings I’ve received. I look forward to what this year has to offer and hope to accomplish my new goals as well.

It’s crazy to think I started this account as a 19 year-old paralegal student that was working a full-time factory job on 3rd shift. Those days feel like they were ages ago.

Again, so thankful for everyone who has pushed me to be the best version of myself. To another great year!🥂

I am thrilled to be attending Central Connecticut State University for the next year and a half to obtain my bachelors degree in political science. For those who don’t know, I recently finished my associates degree in paralegal studies in May 2021 and my associates degree in political science two weeks ago. I am looking forward to this new start as I approach the end of my undergrad years! 🎊

As I have completed a plethora of general education requirements and law related classes, I am currently a senior standing. My goal is to complete all of my required classes for my bachelors degree within the next year and a half if possible.

As I have taken five classes two semesters in a row while working full time, I am relieved to say I am only taking three classes this semester. Having felt completely burnt out, I am certainly going to use this extra time to focus on myself mentally and physically in order to take on more classes in the upcoming semesters.

My Spring 2022 schedule includes:

-Introduction to Biological Anthropology
-World Literature: Ancient to Early Modern
-Global Quality Management Systems

Luckily this semester and the Summer semester will be my last ones taking general education classes. Starting in the Fall, I will only have political science classes until I graduate 😁

Good Luck This Semester To All My Student Followers And Friends 🍀

🥰 Happy Sunday Everyone! Hope everyone is doing well and is getting excited for the holidays 😁

Here’s a small update! First of all, I have been beyond busy between work and school. I believed that after elections my work load would be lessened- I was beyond wrong. As the Fall semester is nearing it’s end, I have been crammed with course work, projects, etc. It has been anything but peaceful lately. Even with such chaos, I am beyond thrilled to say I have two weeks until I finish my courses and obtain my associates degree in political science! While I will not be having a standard graduation, I am happy to be done with my degree and move on to obtain my bachelors! I also look forward to creating more advice posts for this account when the semester ends as I feel my account is lacking in such posts.

Even with such madness ensuing my life currently, I was luckily able to enjoy my Thanksgiving break away from home. One destination I visited was Washington D.C.! While I have been to our nation’s capitol before, this was my first time visiting as a political science student with vast knowledge about our government. While I was not able to go inside, I was lucky enough to walk around the outside of The U.S. Supreme Court building. After learning a plethora of case law from The U.S. Supreme Court, it was incredible to stand outside and think “wow, this case was decided right inside this building”. I’m a complete nerd, so I definitely thought it was incredible 😂. Anyways, was happy to get in a small break before my last few weeks of class and finals!

End of my update. Good luck on the last week of class and finals to all the students out there, you will do amazing! 😁
