PA LICENSE TO CARRY A FIREARM SATELLITE AND PROJECT D.U.M.P. EVENT INFORMATION FROM THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE:
The events will be first-come, first-serve meaning that we will not be using an appointment process. It is important for all (new and renewal) applicants to have a valid PA ID or Driver’s License, a completed application, and $20.00 cash on hand. It is important that applicants bring a completed application to ensure efficiency in the process for all attending the event. Also, we will only be serving residents of Allegheny County.
Sheriff Kevin M. Kraus continues to strive to provide many opportunities throughout the county for citizens to apply for their license. There will be an event each month during the 2026 year, so please refer to the schedule to locate the most convenient event for you to attend.
In addition to issuing licenses, the Sheriff’s Office will also have a representative from our opioid reduction program, Project D.U.M.P., on-site to take expired and unused medications. However, we will not be accepting glass bottles, liquids, syringes, inhalers/insulin, or creams.

To all our Animal Lovers out there: Heights Notary has given our full support to Paws Across Pittsburgh helping to give homes to these adorable dogs and cats that are up for adoption.
We have two trees here at the office, with different ornaments, each one representing "your" next pet!! So, please, if you have been thinking of getting a pet for Christmas for yourself, a friend, or family as a gift, please stop in and look at these cuties first!
If you do not have the room for a new pet, then please consider donating food or toys to help these animals feel at home and get the care they need until they go to their new forever homes.

IN OBSERVANCE OF LABOR DAY WE WILL BE CLOSED MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2024.

We have come a long way since the first Labor Day, here is a bit of history from the US Department of Labor:

Before it was a federal holiday, Labor Day was recognized by labor activists and individual states. After municipal ordinances were passed in 1885 and 1886, a movement developed to secure state legislation. New York was the first state to introduce a bill, but Oregon was the first to pass a law recognizing Labor Day, on February 21, 1887. During 1887, four more states – Colorado, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York – passed laws creating a Labor Day holiday. By the end of the decade Connecticut, Nebraska and Pennsylvania had followed suit. By 1894, 23 more states had adopted the holiday, and on June 28, 1894, Congress passed an act making the first Monday in September of each year a legal holiday.
