To All citizens of the Town of MarionI:
I am running for Mayor of Marion because I believe our town is at a critical crossroads. With over 30 years of experience as an attorney and certified EMT-paramedic, I am deeply committed to the safety, well-being, and future of our community.
During my petition drive, I emphasized that my decision to run is rooted in the conviction that Marion needs fresh leadership, starting with a new Town Manager. Under the current Town Manager, I believe we’ve seen regression rather than progress. One of the most glaring examples of this is the decision to pursue the purchase of a golf course instead of ensuring that our senior citizens were adequately cared for by maintaining the senior citizen center—an investment that would have provided far greater benefit to our community.
I am a strong advocate for Marion’s Fire and EMS department, which is more than just a service—it embodies the pride and honor of our town. With my background in emergency services, I understand how essential it is to maintain a strong, reliable department to ensure the safety of our residents. I am committed to leading the charge to strengthen and enhance this already vital institution.
However, the most urgent issue we face is the growing distrust between our citizens and the Town Manager’s office. Transparency and accountability have been severely lacking, eroding the confidence our community should have in its government. The Town Council has become too wary, reluctant to hold the Town Manager accountable for fear of micromanaging. But we must remember that elected officials serve the people, not the interests of any one employee.
Another key issue I will address is the development of the property adjacent to Exit 47. While there is currently no clear plan for this valuable space, I see it as a vital opportunity to meet the housing needs of our residents, particularly senior citizens and veterans.
This election is a pivotal moment for Marion. We must decide between maintaining the status quo under the current Town Council or embracing a new direction with leadership that listens to the community, prioritizes its needs, emphasizes transparency, and drives meaningful change. I am running to restore open communication with Town Hall and lead Marion toward a brighter, more prosperous future.
I don’t have a magic wand to make things happen overnight. Each and every one must understand that compromise is the cornerstone of government.
I can’t and won’t promise anything beyond this: TOGETHER, we can make Marion greater again.
On November 5th, I ask for your vote.
