Today I am ecstatic. Last August myself and co-counsel J. Andrew Douglas won a six-day bench trial in a trusts and estates and real property case. The losing parties appealed. Their counsel failed to timely file the record on appeal and then filed a motion for relief from default and extension of time. Such motions are routinely granted. However, I filed a hard-hitting opposition, and today the Court of Appeals issued a final order accepting my opposition and dismissed the appeal at the outset. My client’s six-year-long expensive litigation nightmare is now over. Mazel tov to my client. This Tuesday is starting out well.

"Haney's attorney, Graham E. Berry, who wrote the May 30 letter, sent us a statement with his takeaways from the hearing, expressing some frustration over Scientology attorney William Foreman allegedly telling the court "it had no power to do anything." Instead, Foreman suggested the judge "just set another Status Conference eight months out," Berry said."

Valerie Haney, the alleged victim of kidnapping by the Church of Scientology, detailed the "trauma, employment problems, and worse" she claimed to suffer in arbitration.

We’ve been telling you how after Leah Remini filed her August 2 lawsuit against Scientology for what she says is a yearslong campaign of harassment, Scientology hit back with a motion to strike much of the lawsuit’s material. Since then, both legal teams have submitted numerous attacks on the ot...

"On January 4, 1963, the FDA raided Scientology in Washington DC and seized hundreds of E-meters and many more documents.

It turned out that the federal government had been investigating Scientology and its founder L. Ron Hubbard since at least 1958 for making health claims about his “technology” and the E-meter in particular. The FDA had even sent in an undercover investigator to join the organization and find out what it was doing."

On the mind control experiments... "“Manson said, ‘I still don’t believe any of the violence would have erupted if we had controlled the drugs instead of letting them control us.’ It isn’t possible to control datura. It turns the whole world into a hallucination, a living nightmare. …
Scientology had been infiltrated by federal agents too, who were using it to accomplish things. And there’s an interesting character who was the one who taught Manson Scientology, who later represented Squeaky Fromm after the assassination attempt of Gerald Ford … in ’75 … Lanier Ramer … Bruce Davis … was suspected in a couple of other murders, including two Scientology teenagers in LA in November of ’69’. I’d love to see information about this use by federal agents of Scientology. The only time I’ve heard it before was back in 1983 from Hubbard’s ‘Second Deputy Commodore’ Captain Bill Robertson, who assured me that Scientology had been taken over by the FBI as part of the alien invasion of Earth which was already underway with two hundred thousand Marcabians in Switzerland under the cover of Transcendental Meditation and the Freemasons.”

[Charles Manson’s involvement in Scientology is well documented. So Jon Atack looked into a new theory of the Manson murders that is gaining a lot of traction and that for some reason completely ignores Manson’s interest in L. Ron Hubbard’s ideas.] Charles Manson and his ‘Family’ will alwa...

"The implication seemed clear: Angry that he’d been spurned by the city, Miscavige was directing rich Scientologists to snap up even more control of it."

We’ve told you how Scientology leader David Miscavige really wanted to get his hands on a small parcel of land in downtown Clearwater, Florida that is surrounded by other Scientology properties, but in 2017 the city stopped him from getting it. As a result, we learned through

Very disappointing although there may be ways around it in some types of cases.

Federal district Judge Thomas Barber has denied Scientology leader David Miscavige’s objection to being served a labor trafficking lawsuit that was filed in Tampa by three former Sea Org workers. However, Barber has granted Scientology’s motion to force the case into “religious arbitration” ...

"“The admission of Scientology evidence…provides an important context for the victims’ delayed reporting of the crimes, which itself bears on the evaluation of the witnesses’ credibility and the actual occurrence of the crimes,” she wrote. “Thus, Scientology practices and beliefs are relevant to determining whether defendant committed the alleged crimes.”"

Jury selection is now slated to begin on April 17 and two new witnesses will be allowed to testify about ”bad acts” allegations
