My Dearest V,
Missing you today more than on many days when you cross my mind. Thankful that you have reminded me you are still present in both my work and home life. I brought one of those legal-sized black trays home from the office, you know where we’d put files we’d work on for the day. I wanted to put my toaster on it so crumbs wouldn’t get all over the inside of the drawer. I got it home, went to clean it and there right on the front was VYB (Vanda Yvonne Bayliss) LOUD and PROUD. Needless, to say, I kept that sticker on it and every time I see it I laugh…so thank you for that, my friend. Throughout this year, I’ve also read many of the law memos you wrote, and GOD GIRL you could write so clearly, whittling down the rambling pages of legalese and giving me the “good stuff.” Grateful we were friends, blessed to have known and work alongside you, and hope your heavenly accommodations are to your liking.
