Contact your U.S. Senators and tell them to freeze US-DOL's April, 2012, intended implementation of new H-2B visa program regulations that will cause many small businesses to fold.

US-DOL is not trying to deteremine how to help small businesses stay alive and they do not realize how many U.S. workers will be out of work and their families devastated when these small businesses' fold.

Small business owners experiencing labor shortages in their most undesirable, low skilled jobs, are dependent on the visa program for guest workers willing to do these jobs during the busy season because U.S. workers find better jobs and don't want these jobs. Small businesses are dependent on their busy seasons. The visa programs must be simplified and affordable to help small businesses stay in business.

Please take everything you read about abuse to foreign workers under the H2A and H2B visa progarms with a grain of salt. It is rare. But it is popular to point fingers at small business employers as the culprits of a vast ocean of sins, easy to fine them and tax them and discourage them.

Sensationalist journalism promotes articles citing 'worker abuse' in the visa programs. The goal is to increase newspaper sales. Any journalist investing sufficient research will find the visa programs regulated almost into non-existance.

Visa workers are highly valued by employers in the U.S. Wages are closely monitored to insure compliance with all rules. Newspaper reports of worker abuse calling for a change in the visa program is a joke. Nothing could be more intensely monitored or regulated. In fact, a lot of employers have simply given up on the progams because it is regulated to death.

US-DOL's farm work web page site only lists farm worker jobs IF the farmer is trying to get H2A foreign guestworkers into the U.S. Other farmers are NOT allowed to list their jobs on DOL's web page.

US DOL's ag jobs web page site lists ONLY farmworker jobs . At the same time DOL's stated policy is to use some fundings to transition workers away from farm work.

The US DOL Secretary of Labor has stated one of their goals is to assist workers to get out of agricultural work. Nevertheless DOL just spent money on an Internet site having agricultural jobs listed nationwide. Only agricultural jobs.
