Meet Jonathan L. Johnson, Secretary/Treasurer of the Port of Lake Charles Board of Commissioners.

Jonathan brings a distinguished legal background and years of leadership experience to his service on the Board. Since 2006, he has led The Johnson Firm as owner and attorney, building a career rooted in law, business and service to the community.

His professional accomplishments include being named the 2011 Most Outstanding Young Lawyer in Louisiana by the Louisiana State Bar Association and earning recognition twice as a Super Lawyers Rising Star. Earlier in his career, Jonathan served as a law clerk for Judges Robert Wyatt, Arthur Planchard and Al Gray of the 14th Judicial District Court.

As Secretary/Treasurer, Jonathan's service continues a legacy of strong leadership that has helped shape our first century and prepares us for the next.

In a recent case handled by attorney Andrew Leonards, our client was arrested prior to a full and balanced review of the facts. Following rigorous defense efforts, the District Attorney's office formally refused all charges due to insufficient evidence.

Leonards provided that, “When the District Attorney’s Office ultimately reviewed the evidence, they stipulated to no probable cause —a threshold far lower than proof beyond a reasonable doubt. Today, they formally rejected all charges in the case, clearing his name but not undoing the damage inflicted on him and his family…Our focus will now be on repairing what’s been done to the Ramos family so that they can heal and move forward.”
