Winter weather is here!

If you take to the roads this holiday season, be aware that travel could become treacherous with freezing temperatures and snow expected in many corners of Oregon. Here are some tips to be prepared.

❄️ Know before you go. - Visit TripCheck.com and see road conditions along your route, start to finish.

❄️ Drive for conditions - If encountering rain, mud, snow, ice or extra traffic, be sure to slow down and give extra space for stopping.

❄️ Check things out. - Keep your vehicle in good operating shape, regularly checking brakes, lights, tires, and wipers.

❄️ Pay attention. - In wintry conditions, visibility drops.

❄️ Watch for signs. - Roadside message signs contain critical information about conditions on the road ahead.

❄️ Be safe. - Be patient, wear your seat belt, pay attention to road conditions and keep a sober driver behind the wheel.

I was driving down Huntington today on my way to a final walk through and had to snap a shot. 17 years in Central Oregon and the views still catch me. A fresh layer is snow up there, and more to come!

I have seen some folks chat lately about wanting more space, but still close to amenities. This area is just that; 6.7 miles to La Pine’s Rays Food Place and 20 miles from the Albertsons on the south side of Bend. A quick drive ‘into town’ for what you need, while living with some elbow room from your neighbors.
