Thank you for the most interesting and longest Tax Season ever :)
We hope this email finds you and your loved ones healthy and safe. Our TABSCO family is all doing well.

We want to thank all of you for your patience and understanding during this past Tax Season. It was the longest one but that had the benefit of giving us extra time to complete everyone's returns before the July 15th deadline.

Thank you also to those that have faith and confidence in us. We had over 50 new clients this year mostly due to referrals! We appreciate our clients so much for helping us grow our family business.

For our clients that have not yet filed or if you know anyone that still needs to file, the Tax Extension deadline is October 15, 2020 for both Federal and California state.

Please send your tax info any one of these ways:
- Mail - 3616 Foothill Blvd, La Crescenta, CA 91214
- Email - [email protected]
- Fax - (323) 257-2484

We truly hope we get to "see" all of you next year. Until then, hug those in your health circle, call those that aren't and stay healthy!

Economic Impact Payment Information Center | Internal Revenue Service

Very interesting answers about the stimulus payment. Some highlights:
Q30. Is the Payment includible in my gross income? (updated April 24, 2020)
A30. No, the Payment is not includible in your gross income. Therefore, you will not include the Payment in your taxable income on your Federal income tax return or pay income tax on your Payment. It will not reduce your refund or increase the amount you owe when you file your 2020 Federal income tax return.A Payment also will not affect your income for purposes of determining eligibility for federal government assistance or benefit programs.

Q29. I think the amount of my Economic Impact Payment is incorrect. What can I do? (added April 29, 2020)
A29. If you did not receive the full amount to which you believe you are entitled, you will be able to claim the additional amount when you file your 2020 tax return. This is particularly important for individuals who may be entitled to the additional $500 per qualifying child dependent payments. For VA and SSI recipients who don’t have a filing requirement and have a child, they need to use the Non-Filers tool on IRS.gov by May 5 in order to have the $500 added automatically to their $1,200 Economic Impact payment. We encourage people to review our “How do I calculate my EIP Payment” question and answer (See question 21).

Q25. Is a child born, adopted, or placed into foster care in 2020 a qualifying child for the Payment?
A25. The Payment in 2020 will not include an additional amount for these children because the Payment in 2020 is based only on information from your 2019 or 2018 tax return. You may claim the child next year for an additional credit on your 2020 tax return.

Answers to frequently asked questions about Economic Impact Payments (coronavirus stimulus checks). These questions and answers will be updated periodically.

Needy Will Face Hurdles to Getting Coronavirus Stimulus

Great news for people who just get Social Security!
"The Treasury Department backtracked on Wednesday and said Social Security beneficiaries who did not typically file returns would receive their payments automatically after all."

The Treasury reversed guidance that would have required millions of Social Security recipients to file returns, but many other low-income people will have to submit them.

Coronavirus Tax Relief | Internal Revenue Service

From irs.gov "I am not typically required to file a tax return. Can I still receive my payment?
Yes. People who typically do not file a tax return will need to file a simple tax return to receive an economic impact payment. Low-income taxpayers, senior citizens, Social Security recipients, some veterans and individuals with disabilities who are otherwise not required to file a tax return will not owe tax.

How can I file the tax return needed to receive my economic impact payment?
IRS.gov/coronavirus will soon provide information instructing people in these groups on how to file a 2019 tax return with simple, but necessary, information including their filing status, number of dependents and direct deposit bank account information."

To explain the tax relief for those affected by coronavirus.

The Wall Street Journal

This is the great news that we have been waiting for! We still need to file taxes or file an extension by April 15th but the payments don't need to be paid until July 15.

The U.S. government will postpone the April 15 tax-payment deadline for millions of individuals, giving Americans another 90 days to pay their 2019 income tax bills in an unprecedented move.

03/15/2020

In the interest of following self-isolation recommendations, we will not be scheduling in person interviews. We are a family business so we are still going to be in the office to work on your tax returns. We will happily work by mail, email, fax and phone. OK to drop your paperwork off but please forgive us for not inviting you in for a long chat :)
Wishing everyone a safe March and April and we hope to see you in person next tax season.

What’s in the Final Republican Tax Bill

If you itemize on your tax return and deduct Property Tax, you may want to consider paying the full 2017 amount for deduction purposes before Dec 31, 2017 (instead of paying half last month and the next half Feb 2018.) If the new tax overhaul passes, standard deductions will increase and you may not qualify to deduct the 2nd half of your Property taxes on your 2018 return. Of course, I recommend you check with your Tax Preparer/CPA for more details and recommendations.

The legislation would cut taxes for corporations. American taxpayers, in large part, would also get cuts, though most of the changes affecting them would expire after 2025.
