Tile started with something simple: clay, fire, and the need to make buildings stronger, cleaner, and more beautiful.

Thousands of years ago, people realized fired clay could protect walls and floors. In ancient Egypt, blue-green tiles were used in royal spaces and even carried symbolism around water, growth, and the afterlife. In Babylon, glazed brick turned massive city gates into color-filled architecture. The Romans used mosaics to tell stories across floors, baths, villas, and public spaces.
