Putting "manager" in a job title does not automatically make an employee exempt from federal overtime laws. The employee must actually spend most of his time at work being a manager (i.e., supervising other employees or performing non-manual work while exercising discretion and independent judgment). Employees who are misclassified as exempt can recover double back pay and attorney's fees.
