“Before Zoom depo starts I put my name and email address in chat box and request them to send me their contact info, transcript order and any exhibits they would like attached to the transcript.”

Alpha believes that tips from our court reporters will be very helpful not only to other court reporters, but to attorneys as well. Our ALPHA TUESDAY TIP for the week comes from Patricia Nilsen regarding marking electronic exhibits.
"Make sure when you send the reporter your exhibits, that they are in PDF format, if possible." This tip can also apply when a reporter is sending their electronic exhibits to production for processing.

An extension of appreciation to the hard working court reporters for their dedication of capturing the spoken word within the walls of the capitol. Certainly a very challenging job.
On behalf of the National Court Reporters Association, we would like to thank the Congressional court reporters in both the U.S. House of Representatives and in the U.S. Senate who did their typically amazing job capturing the official record of yesterday’s proceedings in the U.S. Capitol. No one could have predicted the events of yesterday, but we are grateful that our colleagues were not injured in the events that unfolded. These reporters were front and center capturing the record during the events of Jan. 6 and were ushered to safe places within the Capitol complex during the breach of the Capitol.
The reporters of the House and Senate concluded their duties after 3:30 a.m. this morning. NCRA and the entire court reporting community thank them for their service to our country. Their mission is to capture history as it unfolds, and they do so with skill and professionalism that reflect the highest standards of our profession.

Municipal Courts to resume in-court appearances. Effective Monday, October 5, municipal courts will resume in-court appearances. Courts will continue staggered scheduling to maintain physical distancing of six feet.
