On Friday, April 17, 2015, I was honored to stand beside my client, Lynette Duncan, at Richard.J. Donovan State Prison as we opposed the parole of Brett Thomas, the individual who murdered her sister and father and shot her mother in 1977. We were triumphant in our fight, as Inmate Thomas will not be eligible for parole for another seven years! The picture/link below is a photo which appeared in the Orange County Register of the press conference which was held prior to our departure for the prison. My client and I wholeheartedly thank Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas, OCDA Chief-of-Staff Susan Schroeder and Dr. Henry Nicholas, author and founder of Marsy's Law, for their support throughout this process. Marsy's Law is California's Victims' Bill of Rights which was added to the state Constitution in 2008. The amendment was named after Dr. Nicholas' sister, Marsy, who was murdered in 1984.
