Sheriff Maxwell would like to spotlight an awesome Deputy! Off Duty Deputy K. McGinnis followed this vehicle for over 40 miles providing up to the minute information to on duty law enforcement. Without her actions this car might not have been recovered and this situation could’ve ended very differently. Outstanding job Deputy!!

8:20am

8:20am doesn’t really mean a lot when you think about it but at this very time 19 years ago the world was still normal. Little did we know that only a few minutes later everything would change.

Ask anyone who was alive at the time and they will be able to tell you exactly where they were the moment they received news that the World Trade Center had been struck by an airplane. We all still feel the horror we felt that day as we watched another airplane fly right in to the south tower on live television. On this day 343 Firefighters and 71 Law Enforcement Officers lost their lives doing the best they could to save just one more person.
All together almost 3,000 people died in one day and 90 different countries lost citizens. Let us remember the promises we made on 9/12. We will never forget!

Hughes County EMS

Can it be fall already?

An excessive heat warning has been issued on 8/29/20 for Central Oklahoma including Hughes County from 1pm to 8pm .

Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses,
particularly for those working or participating in outdoor
activities.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke.
Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1 if you or someone you know is suffering from heat stroke.

On behalf of Director Kristy Lashbrook, this warning has been compiled by PIO Christopher Miller from information obtained via the National Weather Service, and this concludes our warning.

Hughes County EMS

Hughes County EMS responded to a 2 vehicle motor vehicle collision with entrapment by the old National Guard Armory on East Highway. Once on scene EMS began incident command and field triage with a declaration of a Mass Casualty Incident at 1510 hrs. Additional EMS units were activated as well as 3 medical helicopters. Unfortunately, 2 persons were pronounced on scene by Hughes County EMS Paramedics. 1 person was transported by HCEMS to intercept with a medical helicopter and was flown in serious condition to a regional metropolitan trauma center. 2 persons were treated and released on scene.

We would like to take a moment to remind the general public that these patients are someone's family, posting pictures, recording video etc while within your rights as an American is distasteful. No one wants to get on social media and see pictures of human remains. It is sad, the amount of people that felt the need to come by the crash scene, get out of their vehicles and take pictures from the police tape.

To the family, our thoughts and prayers go out to you on the loss you are facing today.

We would like to thank our response partners Hughes County Sheriff's Office Holdenville Police Department Holdenville Fire Department Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Air Evac Lifeteam for their assistance today. As first responders we offer our profound appreciation to Subway Holdenville for providing water to all responders while on scene.

On behalf of Director Kristy Lashbrook, this is PIO Christopher Miller and this concludes our report.

MARIA THOMPSON MAXWELL I hope u see this!!! I’m not one that likes to throw other agencies under the bus but you posted on Facebook first...I will back an agencies unless I know they are doin something wrong and this was WRONG!! This accident scene that Hughes County Sheriffs Office was on and smiling about was my grandbabies aunt who was 21 years old and she passed away! We have done soooo many holidays and birthdays together she was a part of my family and for u to stand there and be smiling to post on Facebook WOW how would u like to see that if it was ur family member?? And how is the public suppose to know that all was taken to hospital before picture was taken....I didn’t know when I first looked at it!! Then the so called “apology” that was no way an apology to the family!!! If that is ur way of a coping mechanisms then u need to find another way to cope rather than post selfies and evidence of a accident scene on Facebook!!! That wasn’t coping that was trying to get attention!! Then to say it the public’s problem not yours NO it is your problem because we as law enforcement have or should have a higher standard to live up to in the eye of the public! They do not know how things really operate in the job we do and it’s our job to do it at the best of our ability without offending the public and/or the families involved!! And the bystander that was filming that u talk about I’m sure the family didn’t appreciate that either but again YOU ARE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICALS!! Shame on u shame on you and your department for doing this!! The family was dealing with enough with the death of their child, their sister, their niece, their aunt, their friend!!! This was horrible horrible horrible!!! I have been in law enforcement for 17+ years and this is ridiculous!! If the scenes are that bad that you have to take selfies to post on Facebook for coping mechanism then maybe you should reach out to other agencies and see what they do to cope with these situations!!! YOU ARE LAW ENFORCEMENT YOU ARE BETTER THAN THIS!!! 🤯😡🤬😡🤬😡🤬
