HIGH POINT BAR ASSOCIATION AWARDS $20,000 IN GRANTS
HIGH POINT - April 7, 2021

The High Point Bar Association has awarded a total of $20,000 to eight local non-profit agencies and organizations. This is the fifth year of community giving by the High Point Bar Association. The name of the committee within the HPBA, though, has recently been amended to the High Point Bar Association’s Mittie Smith Charitable Contributions Committee. Thus, we honor our founding member who seized the initiative to create this committee; thereby embodying her, and our, commitment to give back to the community we serve.
The agencies receiving grants this year are:

1. Children’s Law Center - $3,000 for staffing
2. Open Door Ministries - $1,000 for COVID cleaning of homeless shelter
3. Senior Resources of Guilford - $1,050 for holiday goody bags for the elderly
4. United Way of Greater High Point for Guilford Education Alliance - $3,000 for laptops for remote students
5. Guilford County DSS - $5,000 to Celebrate the Children for purchasing Christmas gifts for children in foster care.
6. YMCA - $1,250 for hiring school tutors/counselors for teens
7. Courtwatch - $2,000 recommended for parenting classes
8. High Point Arts Council - $3,700 toward its United Arts Fund Drive


Due to the Covid pandemic, an awards presentation may be planned at a later date.
