Sending a student to college this fall? Don't overlook an important legal milestone.
Once someone turns 18, they become legally responsible for making their own healthcare and financial decisions. A Healthcare Power of Attorney, HIPAA Authorization, and Durable Financial Power of Attorney allow your student to choose who can receive important medical information and who may make healthcare or financial decisions on their behalf if they're unable to do so.
Every student's situation is different but having these conversations before move-in day can provide peace of mind for the whole family.
If you have questions about these documents or how they may fit your family's needs, I'd be glad to talk with you.
