Providing support, both formal and informal, to an aging family member or friend can be difficult especially if he or she is physically or cognitively challenged. Absences from work or school due to caregiving responsibilities for aging parents is becoming more common. Saturday, March 18th, PACE of the Triad will offer a Family Caregiver Skills Boot Camp from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at PACE, 1471 E Cone Blvd. Greensboro NC.

An occupational therapist, registered nurse and social worker will provide hands-on techniques, interactive demonstrations and tips. Topics addressed will include incontinence care and toileting, communication and difficult behaviors, transfers and proper use of equipment (walkers, wheelchairs, etc.). The training is designed for non-professional caregivers.
The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

What Is A General Durable Power of Attorney?

A general durable power of attorney allows you give individuals you trust the authority to handle your financial and legal matters if you are unable to do so yourself. It is a document that prevents your loved ones from having to petition for guardianship to assist you with things like paying your bills and taxes, running your business, collecting governmental benefits, and managing your bank and investment accounts.

Why Plan For Incapacity?

This may come as a shock, but you are not invincible. You never know when an emergency or tragic event may arise that leaves you unable to effectively manage your property, financial affairs, or health care decisions. Whether that be as a result of age; illness; use of prescription medications, drugs, or other substances; or any other cause. Incapacity can strike at any time, no matter who you are.

Do I Have Enough Assets For A Trust?

A thought that goes through a lot of people’s minds when they start diving into estate planning is “Do I have enough assets for a Trust?” or “I don’t have a large estate. Do I still need a Trust?” So, let’s talk about it.
