Grand Rapids local and established Real Estate Law office in downtown Grand Rapids seeks an Associate Attorney to join our landlord and property management division. Ideal candidate has the strong potential or experience with trial/litigation, mock trial and/or moot court.

Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan (or recently passed the Michigan Bar and will be licensed soon) and otherwise in good standing to practice law and appear in Court.

Associate Attorney will appear in at least 20 District Courts within 13 Counties exclusively in West Michigan (most are remote appearances by Zoom, some travel required). Ideal candidate is 1-5 years experience or a highly qualified recent bar passer and is ready and willing to handle a high-volume of cases with and advocate in Court effectively.

Most Renters’ Payments Are Not Being Reported to Credit Bureaus

A recent article by DS News says only 36% of property managers who are aware of the practice of reporting rent payments to the three major credit agencies are actually doing it. The cited data comes from a TransUnion Tenant & Employment business department report. Interestingly, they add that the 36% of property managers who are reporting this information has increased 37% year-over-year. The top reasons cited for reporting rent payments were to help residents build their credit scores (86%), followed by encouraging residents to pay on time (52%).

“Our residents deserve opportunities to build their credit from on-time rent payments that give them access to more financial services such as favorable interest rates on auto loans,” said Matt DeGraw, President, Bridge Property Management.
