"I was partially at fault for my accident. Can I still recover compensation?"

In New Jersey, the answer is **YES** — as long as you were not more than 50% responsible.

🔹 How it works:
New Jersey follows a **modified comparative negligence** rule. Here's what that means:

**Example 1:**
You're injured in a car accident. The other driver ran a red light, but you were speeding. A jury determines:
• Other driver: 80% at fault
• You: 20% at fault

💰 You can still recover damages, but your compensation is reduced by your percentage of fault.

If your total damages = $100,000, you'd recover $80,000 (80% of the total).

**Example 2:**
