June 9, 2023 Today, Unfiltered with Kiran celebrates its second anniversary!!!!
It’s happy tears but it’s also a realization of anything is possible if you’re willing to work for it. The other day, I got to thinking when someone told me they thought I still was working completely alone. Honestly, I’ve never been alone. From the day I started this venture, I not only had God and my family and friends, but it’s always felt like we all as a community launched UWK.
The amount of times YALL provide us tips, pics, videos and what not, UWK is simply the mechanism to find out what happened for you. Now, we are an entire team and UWK has a staff with some amazing work ethics and personalities you wish for in people, especially in co-workers. UWK is no longer just me.
I have to spend a quick bit to brag about all of this staff. When it comes to breaking news, no matter who is off the clock or where someone has to be or what they’re in the middle of, they all jump in without any questions and cohesively do everything. It’s what you dream of in a newsroom. Thank y’all to the crew we have! They are THE ONES combined with y’all the community, who make UWK. There is no way I can do this alone anymore.
And to y’all, the community, can’t say enough there either because you have your choice in where you go for the news. You don’t have to come to us, esp. as small as we are but you choose to. When we see each other out and about and you show me your phone to show you have our app, my heart smiles. I also need to apologize first to the staff because I know they’re all working so hard to simply keep up with the demand. Secondly, apologize to y’all because I know we get tagged so often and so many people have stories for us to look into but the truth is, there is no possible way for us to get to every single thing. We are not ignoring you if we don’t respond. We are just overwhelmed and I really hope y’all realize that.
We as a team take so much pride in what we put out to you after layers and layers of approvals (on investigations). We proudly serve you the public but just remember, we are smaller and still growing and that’s all thanks to our very loyal, amazing advertisers because they too can go anywhere! Lastly, I’ll close by saying never shy away from trying. I say that often because my thought process changed on June 9, 2021. This concept could have failed but at least I would have given it a shot. It didn’t fail and that’s my point that how do you know if you don’t try? Just take that chance! It may turn into you pursuing your dream…it did for me!!!!
Also, June 9, 2020 was def one of the hardest days of my life, left questioning what I did wrong, what happened, who am I now after my separation with my former employer. But instead of crying over June 9th, I now celebrate this date because June 9, 2021, UWK launched!
