We ask our clients, our colleagues, our peers, families, and friends, to embrace black history month, embrace diversity and work together towards a better, brighter, more inclusive future. We have come so far, but still have work to do.

While we, as attorneys, like to believe that justice is blind, we are all too aware that often justice is not color-blind. In fact, we have seen it and we have experienced it. Our pledge to our client's of every race and creed this month is to spread awareness and advocate zealously and relentlessly to work towards changing this injustice.

U.S. judge blocks Trump move to end DACA program for immigrants

On Tuesday night a Federal Judge ruled on DACA, holding that the plaintiffs were likely to suffer an irreparable harm and that they were likely to prevail on their claim that the rescission of DACA was arbitrary and capricious. It is unclear right now exactly what that could mean for DREAMERS with the pending March 5, 2018 deadline and renewals because it is likely that the government will appeal. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available. If you have individual questions call 313-551-3229.

Millennial lawyers are forging their own paths—and it's wrong to call them lazy

Great read about millennial attorneys. It is difficult sometimes when you see a young attorney to trust their experience and their knowledge, however just like the attorneys in the article, it is often their passion and their dedication that allow them to handle such "thorny, politically charged cases."

At Delgado Law, our greatest asset is our dedication. Its why we spend hours on cases, sacrifice time with our loved ones, and work tirelessly. At the end of the day, the billable hour isn't what defines you as an attorney, but by the fight you put up for justice for a person that has no more fight left in them. (Can you tell this post was published by the millennial?)

Call our office today for a consultation 313-551-3229 if this is the kind of fighter you are looking for.

Iraqi Case Update: Status conference will be held on January 11, 2017, to resolve issues as it relates to Iraqi detention and the Order issued yesterday by the Honorable Mark Goldsmith. More information on the process of bond consideration will be available at that time. As of now, the Order indicates that all detainees are to be released, if held for more than six months, by February 2, 2018, unless it is determined at a bond hearing that they are a flight risk or a threat to the community.

In the event of a bond hearing, if you have a loved one in detention call (313) 551-3229 for a consultation on what information and evidence would help your loved one succeed. Our office has worked diligently on this matter.

Number of DACA Applications Stuck in the Mail Tops 900

This is very troubling: "Citizenship and Immigration Services said it was in the process of sending letters to 900 people it had identified whose applications had arrived at the post office on time but not been officially received by the agency until after the deadline...At least 4,000 renewals were rejected because they were late, according to a government official in an Oct. 18 deposition in a federal lawsuit over the cancellation of DACA."

When there is a deadline, or an urgency for receiving the documents at a specific time, it is always best to use a private courier because you cannot sue the Post Office due to governmental immunity. This is what sets our office apart.

Trump Administration Tightens Scrutiny of Skilled Worker Visa Applicants

In a report by the Wall Street Journal, although the administration hasn't enacted a whole-sale policy for employment-visa programs and congress hasn't enacted any new limits or changes either, "the administration is more closely scrutinizing applications for the high-skilled visa program known as H-1B, sending bck mor than one in four applications between January and August via "requests for further evidence."

The application process is everything, having a trained and skilled legal professional is critical in the application process. Call our office for a consultation to see if you qualify. 313-551-3229.

We've seen a lot of misleading headlines and have had a few client's call worried. To be clear the mother who was sent to jail for seven days was not sent to jail because she did not want to vaccinate her child. The mother was sent to jail because she AGREED to vaccinate the child, entered into an ORDER and then violated the judge's order (again, that she agreed to). She was put in jail for contempt for failing to follow a previous order, not for not vaccinating her children.
This is why it's important that you understand consent judgements, and stipulations. If you are going through a nasty divorce or custody matter, call us so that you make sure you're wishes are expressed in your judgements! Call 313-551-3229

Trump likely to end DACA immigrant program

When we stand together, we are far more powerful.

We are here to lead the fight, but we need everybody that can to speak up! Tell your congress people why you believe they should fight for DACA. This is about the future of not just a whole generation of young, bright, beautiful minds, but about the fabric and growth of our communities.

President Donald Trump appears likely to pull the plug on DACA, the Obama-era program allowing young people who came to the U.S. illegally as children to remain here, several government officials said Friday.
