California-based Filipino migrants workers organization that is part of the broader community of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). We are a grassroots organization fighting for the rights and welfare of OFWs in the Northern San Mateo County and the entire United States. With a critical analysis of the Philippine government's labor export policy program as a main factor responsible for the commodif
ication of Filipino workers, we are able to provide services, advocacy, education, and organizing concerning the most pressing issues that affect all OFWs to date. RIGHTS AND WELFARE
Through our community allies and legal advocates, Migrante Northern San Mateo County provides basic services and legal referrals for issues relating to immigration, women rights and workers rights. CAMPAIGNS AND ADVOCACY
We engage in local, national, and international campaigns that support the rights and welfare of all migrant workers. In order to address the root cause of forced migration, we participate in campaigns spearheaded by MIGRANTE International. EDUCATION AND RESEARCH
We provide trainings that focus on addressing wage-theft, labor trafficking, employer intimidation, discrimination, sexual harassment, and other forms of exploitation. We train workers on how to conduct community-based participatory research to learn about the working conditions and migration experiences of OFWs. NETWORKING AND LOBBYING
We participate in broad coalitions and alliances that advance the rights of OFWs and other migrant groups. We engage in legislative campaigns to ensure that laws are passed (and upheld) that protect OFWs from occupational injury, discrimination, deportation, maltreatment, and wage exploitation. INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY
We strive for positive working relationships with other migrant organizations and advocates within the US and around the world.
