I get upset with financial institutions suggesting that a joint account is a good probate avoidance strategy. A parent may add a son or daughter to an account for "convenience", creating a disaster upon the parent's death. Please let your attorney do your estate planning - not a financial institution.

What may be obvious to you, may not be so obvious to your children. Your life is the peacemaker - your death gives everybody an opinion. It is easy to create a Personal Property Memorandum - end of story. Don't believe me, ask my wife.
