Great news out of Tennessee! The Tennessee Bar Association along with the Tennessee Safe Parents Organization testified against a presumptive joint custody bill, highlighting countless concerns that were heard in the House Judiciary Committee.

It failed in the House Judiciary Committee yesterday in a vote of 16-3, leaving it dead for the year We are grateful for everyone's advocacy, education efforts and desire to keep the child's best interest first in child custody determinations.

Also, thank you to State Representative Johnny C. Garrett and State Representative Gloria Johnson for speaking out and standing up for children.

Trust your gut, listen to your brain and trust yourself - don't let someone hurt your child/ren.

Stop leaving your kids with them.

Stop leaving your children with your boyfriends you barely know.

Stop letting your family members you don't entirely trust watch them because it's free.

If you have a gut feeling about someone that doesn't sit right with you when it comes to your child, cut all ties with this person.

If your little one comes to you and says I don't want to stay with a particular person .... do me a favor and listen to them.

MEDIATION IN DOMESTIC CASES: As part of any domestic case, you are required to participate in mediation - in the last three weeks I have appeared for my clients and settled 4 out of 5 cases.

Mediation is a procedure where the parties and their attorneys appear and the mediator works with both sides of a case to resolve issues. The mediator is trained to do this and oftentimes is a very experienced lawyer or judge. After mediation is completed the parties sign an agreement and then it takes a short period of time to resolve any remaining issues, such as calculation of child support and paperwork to get a final hearing.
