I hereby declare March 20th, 2015 as "Bring your drum to the range day", in celebration of the H.B. 234 that Ohio Gov. John Kasich signed on December 19th, 2014:

Summary of the law:

• Creates reciprocity to recognize concealed handgun permits from other states, much as drivers licenses are recognized.

• Eliminates a provision in the law that equated semi-automatics fi****ms that could accept magazines with a capacity of more than 30 rounds as automatic weapons. (You can now use your 32rd G***k Mags, 100rd AR-15 drums, etc)

• States that the Ohio CHL will meet the requirements of the national instant check system. This should allow CHL holders to purchase fi****ms by presenting their CHL to fi****ms dealers.

• Allows for training certification by any “national gun advocacy organization” instead of the National Rifle Association specifically.

• Allows for partial training online, but requires two hours of in person range time for CHL permit training.

• Extends Ohio CHL permit expiration to the date of expiration on the permit, instead of upon change of residency.

• Provides that entry into parking lots with a CHL shall not be considered criminal trespass.

• Allows people in the Military, Peace Corps, and Service to America six months grace to renew an Ohio concealed handgun license.

• Creates as “Shall Sign” provision for chief law enforcement officers who process National Fi****ms Act (NFA) forms.

• Allows people with legal gun mufflers to use them for hunting game.

There are some changes coming to this page, and we are currently building a team of instructors who can teach a span of several different disciplines.

Daylight savings time has finally come and the weather is warming up! This means our NRA Basic Pistol & Ohio Concealed Carry Course schedules will be posted soon!

As always, all of our instructors are NRA Certified Instructors who are subject matter experts with the highest regard to firearm safety!

Ohio CHL fun facts/perks:
* You can conceal carry a loaded pistol on a boat
* You can conceal carry a loaded pistol in your car
* You can conceal carry a loaded pistol on your bike
* You can pre-load your magazines when going to a range
* While you can already open carry, of course the obvious is you will be able to conceal carry any handgun.
* In addition to Ohio, your license will be valid/honored in the following states: AK, AL, AR, AZ, DE, FL, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NM, NV, OK, SC, SD, TN, UT, VA, VT, WA, WV, WY
* Concealed Handgun License requires a renewal 5 years from the date of issuance.

If you have Range Targets or Target-Frames, please bring them out! We will definitely be short on Target-Frames otherwise

Saturday, March 16th at Deer Creek is a go if the weather is 40degrees or warmer! If the forecast is less than 40 (or high chance of rain), this will change to Ohio Valley Outdoors in Lancaster on Friday.

We should be leaving at 11:00AM and expected to arrive around 11:35-11:45AM for 3-4 hours of shooting!

Cost is $5/day or $24/yr (Can be purchased anywhere that sells Hunting Licenses), just ask for the Deer Creek Rifle Range pass.
