WARNING ⚠️
I have been hearing a lot from clients recently who have had attorneys advertising different awards they have received.
I have always and will always run my law firm from a position of integrity and education. With that said I think it is important to let the public know that these awards are typically meaningless.
Nearly every one is either pay for play and involves paying a yearly fee to get the award or involve "peer recommendations".
This means you can either pay to receive the award or you can nominate a friend and they can nominate you. There is not a true "review" process to truly select the "best".
With that said I have been approached by these companies and by other attorneys about obtaining one of these awards and I have declined the opportunity.
So when working with someone advertising any attorney award proceed with caution. Below I have shared an FTC warning that has been released because of the uptick in these awards.
The .gov means it’s official. Federal government websites often end in .gov or .mil. Before sharing sensitive information, make sure you’re on a federal government site.
