When a loved one enters a nursing home or assisted living facility, families deserve peace of mind, not unanswered questions.

Ohio lawmakers are working to strengthen Esther's Law by expanding the use of in-room monitoring devices in long-term care facilities. While advocates support the effort, many believe important loopholes still need to be addressed to ensure residents receive the protections they deserve. The proposed legislation aims to increase transparency, accountability, and safety for some of our most vulnerable community members.

At Tittle & Perlmuter, we believe every nursing home resident deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. When facilities fail to provide safe, appropriate care, families have the right to seek answers, and accountability.

In 2021, Esther's Law solidified the rights of Ohio’s nursing home residents, or their loved ones, to install cameras in their rooms. It’s intended to protect seniors from elder abuse.

🌞 Did You Know?

June 20th is the longest day of the year, aka the summer solstice!

It marks the moment the sun reaches its highest point in the sky, giving us more daylight than any other day of the year. Basically: sunshine overtime. ☀️🕶️

But with all that extra light (and heat) comes the need for extra care, especially when it comes to hydration.

💧 Stay safe during these long, hot days by:

✔️ Drinking water regularly—before you feel thirsty

✔️ Avoiding sugary drinks + caffeine overload

✔️ Taking breaks in the shade or A/C

✔️ Watching for signs of dehydration (fatigue, dizziness, dry mouth)

Whether you’re working outdoors, heading to a festival, or just soaking up the sunshine, keep that water bottle close. Your body, and your brain, will thank you.

Juneteenth marks an important moment in American history, the day enslaved people in Galveston, Texas were finally informed of their freedom more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

It is a day to reflect on the ongoing pursuit of justice, equality, and civil rights, and to recognize the resilience, strength, and contributions of Black Americans throughout history.

At Tittle & Perlmuter, we believe justice should never depend on someone’s race, background, or financial circumstances. We remain committed to advocating for fairness, accountability, and equal access to justice for all members of our community.

Falls are one of the most common and serious dangers facing nursing home residents, and in many cases, they are preventable with proper care, supervision, and safety measures.

At Tittle & Perlmuter, we’ve seen the devastating impact a fall can have on elderly residents and their families, especially when a facility fails to provide the level of care and attention residents deserve.

Nursing homes should take proactive steps to help prevent falls by:

✔️ Identifying residents at higher risk

✔️ Maintaining safe, hazard-free environments

✔️ Providing adequate supervision and assistance

✔️ Ensuring proper lighting and safety equipment

If your loved one suffers a fall in a nursing home:

✔️ Seek medical attention immediately

Elder abuse can take many forms, including physical abuse, neglect, emotional abuse, and financial exploitation. Unfortunately, many cases go unreported, leaving some of our most vulnerable community members without the protection and support they deserve.
