Two lives lost. One city in pain.
In just 48 hours, Ryan Hinton, an 18-year-old teen, was allegedly involved in a stolen vehicle investigation and was fatally shot by Cincinnati police.
The next day, his father, Rodney Hinton Jr., was allegedly involved in an incident that led to the death of a sheriff’s deputy — and now faces charges.
Two families now face unimaginable loss. A city is mourning. And at the center of it all is a question that can no longer be ignored:
How did we get here?
Ryan was not perfect — but he was loved, he was young, and he was still figuring life out. Instead, his story ended in “six quick seconds.”
Bodycam footage shows him running. Police say he was armed — but he never fired, and whether he pointed a weapon remains unclear. Still, multiple rounds were fired. And Ryan fell.
The next day, after watching the video of his son’s death, Rodney Hinton left the police station. Moments later, tragedy struck again.
This isn’t just about one moment or one decision. This is about trauma, the ripple effects of state-sanctioned violence, and how quickly grief can fracture a family, a neighborhood — a city.
We are not here to excuse wrongdoing. We are here to ask why tragedies like these keep happening… and to demand a justice system that values accountability, fairness, and humanity.
Ryan’s life mattered. And the truth matters.
We are proud to represent the Hinton family as they seek answers and justice.
