A photo or video on social media can become evidence in a criminal case.
Posting yourself with guns, large amounts of cash, drugs, stolen property, or other illegal items may seem harmless in the moment — but police and prosecutors may see it differently.
Even a “private” post can be screenshotted, shared, saved, subpoenaed, or used to support a search warrant.
What you post can be used to argue:
• Possession of a firearm or drugs
• Association with criminal activity
• Intent to commit a crime
• Violation of bond, probation, or parole
• Connection to a larger investigation
Do not assume that deleting the post fixes the problem. If you are under investigation or facing charges, speak with a criminal defense lawyer before taking action.
The safest move is simple: don’t create evidence against yourself.
