OUR COMMUNITY SERVES:

❧ lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and queer (LGBTQ) individuals who are in the process of reconciling life, faith (personal beliefs), and sexuality
❧ straight allies who advocate for human rights and equality
❧ individuals and groups that oppose same-sex relationships and marriage equality due t

o personal or religious beliefs, yet desire conflict resolution with loved ones, neighbors, and the LGBTQ community

OUR VALUES:

❧ Every individual’s right to self-determination regarding the process of reconciling life, faith (personal beliefs), and sexuality. Rainbow Unbroken recognizes the personal nature of sexuality and does not advocate for any specific outcome (i.e. celibacy, same-sex relationships, or mix-orientation relationships).
❧ Every individual’s right to hold personal beliefs and spiritual practices.
❧ Every individual’s responsibility to abide by government laws and to protect civil freedoms. OUR MISSION:

Connecting diverse communities to become reconciled. OUR VISION:

Individuals will strengthen necessary skills for reconciling life, faith (personal beliefs), and sexuality. Human rights and equality advocates will witness the rewards of their efforts. Diverse communities in conflict will discover peaceful solutions for embracing equality. OUR ACTIONS:

❧ We cultivate mutually respective dialogue skills among diverse communities by offering interactive learning opportunities.
❧ We equip individuals (regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity) to reconcile life, faith, and sexuality by hosting member-only forums, blogs, social networking, and public-access links to online resources.
❧ We build bridges between opposing viewpoints by creating safe spaces to express personal beliefs.
❧ We champion equalized human rights and privileges among global citizens by inviting all stakeholders to develop achievable, goal-oriented solutions.
❧ We challenge the damaging effects associated with a predominately heteronormative** society by increasing fair representation of gender and sexual minorities. Related Sites:

Transgender Awareness Month is in November. Allies can begin now, learning about resources and how to be an ally to your transgender friends and family.

Always remember… transgender people are just like you and me, they want to live life to the fullest, to feel safe and loved for who they are. There’s nothing terroristic about transgender people, no matter the lies of those who fear them.

November is Transgender Awareness Month. The UCLA Williams Institute estimates that 1.4 million adults in the United States identify as transgender. This month is a time to raise awareness, call for change, and advocate for all transgender and gender-diverse people and communities.

Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches was founded in 1968, during an era of civil unrest and laws that persecuted the LGBTQ community. Raids in gay bars were just the tip of the iceberg. People could be arrested just on the suspicion of being LGBTQ. Churches, clubs, and bars were set on fire. People were killed in those churches, clubs, and bars.

Rev Troy Perry established a revolution for our rights! He was more than a preacher! He, along with others, risked their lives to fight for us.

We may have lost the scrimmage, but we have not lost the war! Let's continue fighting for freedom, both here and across the world!

Always remember... The God of our understanding will always be in control no matter what happens, no matter how scary life gets, no matter our politics.

BREAKING: Michigan's Senate just passed Senate Bill 4, the expansion of the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act to protect LGBTQ+ Michiganders from discrimination in housing, employment, and public accommodations. Today's bipartisan vote is a major milestone in the fight for LGBTQ+ equality in our state.

Equality Michigan now urges the Michigan House of Representatives to follow suit and take swift action by voting in favor of Senate Bill 4.
