OK hear me out. If you were affected by Helene and and have some damage and are going to be dealing with insurance companies and contractors and stuff like that, I have to recommend that you have a Legalshield membership. “We were rear-ended while stopped at a light. Could have been worse. The 19-year old who hit us accepted fault. Our car was a little damaged, and while my husband wasn’t hurt, my back and shoulder were affected and I ended up needing to go to physical therapy to loosen things up. Her insurance was nice, or so I thought! The agent asked if I wanted to ‘close my case’ on medical and offered me $500 ‘for my trouble’. I thought it was a nice gesture, but when she sent papers for me to sign, I decided to call LegalShield first. I've owned a home and paid for homeowners insurance for over 20 years and haven’t used it ... but I won’t cancel it. I've paid for health insurance for almost 20 years, and with a $10K deductible, I've never gotten value out of it ... but I won't cancel it. I've had auto insurance 30 years and haven't caused an accident ... but I won't cancel it. I've paid into life insurance 20+ years and haven't gotten any value from it, either ... but I won't cancel it. I've had Legalshield 20 years and I've used it hundreds of times; I used it for things as small as $1.50 (it was the principle), and lawsuits that were over $1 million (I was an investor in a subdivision that crashed in 2008). LegalShield reviewed all my contracts before I bought real estate or new cars, they’ve updated my estate planning with each new kid (we have 7), and they've advised us through all major purchases and each time the tax laws changed. If times got hard and I had to downsize, I'd let every other insurance I pay for go before LegalShield because it's the only thing I get value from annually - every other policy requires something catastrophic to happen before I get value.
