The rate you’re offered by a lender depends on several factors, including your debt-to-income ratio (which can range from 0% if you’re debt-free to 50% or more), your credit score (typically between 300 and 850), your employment type and income (whether salary, self-employed, hourly, or bonus-based), your loan size, type, and term, and even whether you have any co-borrowers. The truth is, that rate you see online might be based on assumptions that don’t reflect your actual financial picture.
