Did you know that when you reside in a nursing home facility paid for by Medicaid that you’re only allowed to keep $50 of your own income as a Personal Needs Allowance (PNA) each month? The PNA is for items that are not covered by Medicaid, such as clothes, books, snacks, hair cuts, cellphone, internet or TV services and more. The current $50 amount has not been adjusted since 1988 and, by inflation alone, would be the equivalent of $140 today. Help us better support Medicaid nursing home residents and contact your NYS legislators today to request they support an increase to the PNA today!
