🚨 BREAKING: NY’s Dog Bite Law Has Changed! 🐶⚖️
In a recent decision, New York's highest Court has overturned nearly 20 years of legal precedent in the case of Flanders v. Goodfellow (2025). Victims of dog bites can now sue for negligence — not just if the dog had a known history of aggression.

📌 What happened?
A postal worker was attacked by a dog while delivering a package. Even though other workers had seen the dog act aggressively before, the owners claimed they didn’t know. Under the old rule (Bard v. Jahnke), negligence claims like this were dismissed.
💥 Not anymore. The Court said enough is enough — owners must now act reasonably to prevent dog attacks, even if their dog never bit before.
👨⚖️ Why it matters:
New Yorkers bitten or injured by someone’s dog can now hold careless owners legally accountable — even without a history of prior bites.
