Billionaire Bill Koch just sold one of Cape Cod’s most historic private estates for $20 million, closing the chapter on a property steeped in American social and political history. Koch purchased the home in 2013 for $19.5 million, fulfilling a long held admiration dating back to his visits to the Cape in the 1970s. Before Koch, the estate belonged to Paul Mellon and his wife Bunny Mellon, the celebrated horticulturist behind the White House Rose Garden. Under the Mellons, the property became a refined summer retreat that welcomed world leaders, cultural figures, and close friends, including John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Set on 7.43 acres with more than 500 feet of waterfront, the 7,310 square foot home includes eight bedrooms and nine bathrooms, a private dock, and historic gardens designed by Bunny Mellon herself.
