Applicant Intake Coordinator with potential to advance to HUD Certified Housing Counselor & USDA Mortgage Loan Packager
Bogalusa Rebirth is a 501(c)3 non-profit and certified Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO). We develop newly constructed homes and work with low to moderate income families to assist them in becoming homeowners.
We are also a HUD Certified Housing Counseling Agency and offer a variety of comprehensive homeownership and credit counseling services, in addition to being a USDA Direct Loan Packager.
We are looking for a highly motivated, personable, and detail-oriented intake coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the homebuyer counseling application process. You will become approved to package and submit USDA Mortgage loans. Person hired will train to become a HUD certified housing counselor. Seeking a candidate with credit counseling and/or Real Estate sales experience.
Responsibilities:
Pre-screen applicants by preforming needs assessment and assigning appropriate services for their need.
Determine qualified applicants for homeownership or rental.
Identify clients eligible for USDA loans.
Interview clients and assist them with the completion of loan applications.
Screening and assessing new mortgage applications for loan eligibility.
Perform credit counseling activities to help applicant become mortgage ready.
Develop client action plans.
Ensure that personal information such as income and expenditure are received and captured.
Ensuring compliance with mortgage loan regulations and privacy laws.
Package application materials according to USDA requirements and submit for approval.
Track the application through the process.
Reporting to management on applications received, approved, and declined.
Assist the Executive Director & Executive Assistant with project management. Administrative activities to include preparing for and attending quarterly board meetings.
Promote and attend annual housing resource fair and follow up with clients.
Work with partners and clients to schedule homebuyer workshops and trainings.
Conduct outreach activities and community presentations, when necessary.
Job Requirements:
A high school diploma, an Associates or a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work or Finance.
Real estate sales or development experience would advance an applicant without a bachelors degree.
Prior clerical experience working at a bank, real estate, or mortgage lending company.
Familiarity with financial software programs such as Quickbooks, HomeKeeper or Case Managment Systems is a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Self motivated with strong decision-making skills.
Ability to handle confidential information according to company policies & banking regulations.
Time management skills and ability to prioritize.
Strong attention to detail.
Great written and communication skills.
This position will be contingent upon successful completion of Bogalusa Rebirth’s training to include becoming HUD-certified housing counselor through HUD certification process, as well as becoming a USDA certified loan packager. Training will be provided to employee at no cost.
Work Environment:
Applicant Intake and Counselors work approximately 20-30 hours weekly and as necessary to meet the demands of the job.
Employees work primarily at the organizations place of business where they can be most effective and receive ongoing support. Limited hours may be worked from phone. Apple iPhone is preferred device for communication.
Our office is located inside the Bogalusa Post Office.
Office hours are weekdays from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m., except on Wed.
Office is closed on Wednesdays for appointments only.
Professionalism at work can be shown through your attitude and behavior but can also be observed in your manner of dressing. Though we conduct business in a casual environment, we expect employees to dress in business attire that represents corporate professionalism.
Salary:
Hours vary 20-30 hours a week.
Salary will depend on education and experience.
Employee will be hired for a trial development period of six months with the potential to advance with productivity.
Compensation will range from $16.00 - $20.00/hour depending on experience and ability to advance in pay with certification.
Annual salary will range between $16,640. - $31,200. /year depending on how many hours worked at pay rate.
Higher income could be considered for an overly qualified candidate. Please apply.
