For more than 53 years, Attorney Arthur Liss has dedicated his career to helping improve the lives of his clients.

His connection to the work is personal — growing up with an older cousin who was a quadriplegic gave him an early understanding of the challenges injured individuals and their families can face.

For Arthur, advocacy starts with listening. Every client has a story, and understanding their background and needs is essential to representing them well. A win isn’t simply a successful result, it’s knowing the client received what they were entitled to and can live as comfortably as possible.

After more than five decades, seeing the difference this work can make in a client’s life continues to make it all worthwhile. Stay tuned as we continue highlighting the Liss & Andrews team!

Today is National Women's Equality Day, a time we recognize the generations of women who have fought to expand rights, opportunities and equal access to justice.

While we celebrate the progress that has been made, we also recognize the importance of continuing to advocate for fairness, accountability and equal treatment under the law. We're proud to stand with those seeking justice every day.

Despite the impact on Michigan families, the Legislature has failed to take action to fix the 56-hour limitation on family-provided attendant care.

At Liss & Andrews, our team is actively challenging this limitation in the Michigan Court of Appeals to protect the rights of individuals injured in catastrophic motor vehicle accidents to ensure they receive equal protection under the law.

We remain committed to fighting for Michigan families and the care they’re entitled to.

Since Michigan’s No-Fault Act underwent sweeping changes in 2019, we’re all too familiar with insurance companies using Insurance Medical Examinations (IMEs) as a roadblock to delay, reduce or deny benefits to catastrophic auto accident victims.

In a recent Detroit Legal News article, Liss & Andrews Attorney Nick Andrews provides his insight on the importance of having an attorney present during a medical exam. Read the full article here:

The Michigan No-Fault law can be complicated and difficult to understand. But what was its original purpose when it took effect in 1973?

The law was created to help people injured in motor vehicle crashes receive prompt payment of medical bills, lost wages and other necessary benefits from their own auto insurance company, without having to resort to a lawsuit.

Over time, the system became more complicated. Many accident victims found themselves facing delays, denials and rising insurance costs, often forcing them to fight for the benefits the law was meant to provide.

Learn more about the Michigan No-Fault law:

Originally adopted in 1973, Michigan’s unique Automobile No-Fault Insurance law was designed to ensure prompt payment of medical bills, work loss, and replacement services by your auto insurance company without having to resort to a lawsuit if you were involved in a motor vehicle crash.
