BASF launched the Legal Alliance for Reproductive Rights yesterday with the San Francisco City Attorney's Office.

As we all recently learned basic reproductive healthcare is under attack, President Mary McNamara wanted to take action. BASF rallied our members in preparation for this looming crisis. Now, more than 24 Bay Area law firms have already signed on to provide free legal services for the people who will be affected if Roe v Wade is overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court. https://bit.ly/3ajW6zQ

Last week, Partner Shaffy Moeel had the great honor of teaching trial skills to an amazing group of 100 public and private defenders from all over the country at the National Criminal Defense College’s (NCDC) annual Trial Practice Institute (TPI) at its new home in Bristol, Rhode Island.

What an amazing week! We are so grateful to the College’s dedicated staff for safely gathering us altogether. And we are so moved by the commitment and heart of these defenders, who give their all to clients every day, many of whom work tirelessly in absurdly under-resourced offices (caseloads of 450! Defending murder cases not long after graduating from law school!).

These students, at all levels of their careers—from newbies to supervisors—volunteer two whole weeks out of their busy lives and away from their families to practice improving their trial skills so they can go back to their home districts and make it as hard as humanly possible for the government to put their clients in cages.
