Getting a DUII citation in Oregon can feel like everything is moving too fast—license, court dates, and what happens to your driving rights. The difference between panic and control is knowing the exact steps, the deadlines that apply, and where the state’s testing and procedure may be vulnerable. A defense-oriented approach matters most when you’re dealing with breath/blood standards, implied consent issues, and potential DMV consequences. If you want clarity tailored to Oregon—including Bend and Central Oregon—this is the breakdown you need.

Last Friday, one of our patrol teams conducted a focused traffic enforcement detail at the corner of NE Third Street and Burnside Avenue. The officers were looking for people using their cell phones while driving. Over the course of just two hours, officers wrote 30 citations. They also issued 10 warnings and arrested three people. The three arrests were all due to the driver receiving a third cell phone violation, which is a Class B misdemeanor.

Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of crashes in our community. Please put your phone down and pay attention to the road and the traffic around you. Let's all work together to keep Bend safe.

Speeding and other dangerous driving behaviors that often lead to serious crashes were targeted by local law enforcement's July traffic safety campaign.

The Central Oregon Multi‑Agency Traffic Team (MATT) — which includes local law enforcement partners like the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office — teamed up with the Oregon State Police High Visibility Enforcement Unit (VEU) for a three‑day traffic safety operation July 16-18, organized by the Black Butte Ranch Police Department.

Here’s what the teams accomplished:
➡ Speeding: 282
➡ Occupant Protection Violations: 42
➡ Dangerous Lane Changes: 193
➡ Impaired Driving: 26
➡ Distracted Driving: 36
➡ Arrests: 33
➡ Driving While Suspended: 28
➡ Tows: 14
➡ Motor Vehicle Accidents: 6
➡ Total Citations: 273
➡ Total Warnings: 404
➡ Total Stops: 544

The worst kind of call for any law enforcement officer is responding to accidents that cause serious injury or death. Help us by slowing down, reducing distractions, and never driving impaired.
