Honored to meet California State Commander David Brambila and grateful for the opportunity to speak on Veterans Treatment Court at the District 21 General Membership Meeting at American Legion Joe Dominguez Post 742.

Post 742 carries an important history. Founded in 1947 by Latino World War II veterans in Corona, the post was created during a time when veterans of color were excluded from membership at other local American Legion posts. It was named in honor of Private Joe Dominguez, who was killed in action during World War II.

As the proud wife and mother of Army veterans, supporting those who served our country is deeply personal to me. Veterans Treatment Court and military diversion programs provide structure, accountability, treatment, and support for veterans struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues connected to their service. These programs change lives, strengthen families, and improve public safety.

Thank you to everyone at Post 742 for the warm welcome and for your continued service to our veteran community. 🇺🇸
