Whisel was founded on the belief that each of us has the right to live, work, and play in our cities, confidently free of fear. Our small team of business, technology, and law-enforcement professionals mobilized around this idea because we believe that effective and accessible personal security is critical not only for the well-being of the individual, but also for the vitality of the communities,
businesses, and cultural institutions that make our cities so vibrant. We were tired of hearing stories from friends and family and on the news about people, especially women, feeling unsafe in their communities. We wanted a solution that would give people a proactive way to deal with “gray area” safety issues—situations that feel potentially risky but don’t warrant using traditional emergency services like 911. Whisel is a network of trained and licensed personal security professionals. Coordinated through the Whisel app, our Security Partners are available to walk you to your car, remove you from a tense situation, or be there—at your side—just in case. Whisel makes it easy to make responsible choices about personal security. Currently in beta testing in Austin, Texas.
