Blaise was killed while riding his bike by 21-year-old ALLEN BAUTISTA MILLA on the evening of December 10, 2025 in Nashville, Tennessee. On the night of the crash, Milla was being pursued by police for driving erratically. Milla struck Blaise at approximately 80 MILES PER HOUR, then abandoned his disabled blue Honda Civic and fled on foot, leaving Blaise in the roadway to die.

Bike Law's founding attorney Peter Wilborn and National Director Rachael Maney have personally pledged $25k as an award to tracking down this hit and run driver so that he can be held accountable and not upend another family. 🙏

Big month across Texas for safer streets and good rides.

We had the honor of presenting at the Texas Safety Summit alongside Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan and District Attorney Brian Middleton—digging into better crash reporting, enforcing safe-passing and distracted-driving laws, and making sure serious cases are treated seriously. Then, we were the off to the BikeHouston Soirée as a reminder that progress happens when advocates and the community pull the same direction.

On the riding front, I loved spending time with the Texas A&M Cycling crew. And I snuck in some gravel with Katya and friends at Cool Cat Cycles (always a blast and a reminder of why we do this).

As crashes involving people on bikes continue to rise in Houston, the city has removed a critical protected bike lane on Austin Street. The cycling community is rightfully outraged. Dismantling safe infrastructure during a growing safety crisis is not only irresponsible—it puts lives at risk. This isn’t just about bike lanes; it’s about protecting people. It'd be comical if it wasn't so ridiculous! Facts: 70 year old cyclist in Houston is struck; the driver then flees. "I just remember lights coming and I’m screaming ‘help’, and that’s the last thing I remember,” Woodway cyclist David Whitten said.

Response: Officers say it's important for cyclists to follow bicycle safety laws. “We do see on patrol, many cyclists riding without the proper gear,” Kenneaster said.

Cyclists need lights on their bikes to improve visibility at night. They should also wear high visibility vests or tape on their helmets—and plan out routes ahead of time. Police encourage neighbors to ride in groups during the day, too.

We can't expect the hit and run epidemic to get better if the proposed solution is for people riding bikes to simply wear brighter clothing...

We gathered in Austin this week with the goal of making our streets safer for everyone in Texas. BikeTexas hosted hundreds of advocates, planners, engineers, and politicos. Robin Stallings and his team organized an advocacy-world star studded lineup of presenters and ride leaders. In an industry/profession where bad news happens too often, this meetup was exactly what we needed for some fresh air and renewed vigor. 🙏☺️🚲

When in doubt, blame the injured bicyclist!

That seems to be the approach of some attorneys who represent drivers who injure cyclists. Take, for example, the case of a driver who ran straight into the back of our client in Houston. She was riding her bike through George Bush Park on a clear, sunny day when she was struck from behind at 40 mph. She was knocked unconscious and transported via life flight helicopter to Memorial Hermann, where doctors saved her life. She spent the next month healing and getting better.

You’d think that fault for why this crash happened would be clearly on the driver, who would accept fault. But when the attorneys for the driver (and State Farm) didn’t want to allow their driver to take responsibility, their playbook was to blame the bicyclist.

Or maybe the driver could have just paid attention to what was in front of them…

We recently resolved the case for a higher amount than if the driver simply accepted responsibility. This case is not an anomaly. In most instances of clear fault, at-fault drivers point their fingers to everyone but themselves. Our job is to hold them accountable.

Horrific footage from a group ride in Dallas this week. The driver fled, was captured, and arrested. We’ll say it again - this is where riding with cameras comes in handy…

Glad both riders survived this literal assault.
