Parents refrain as local K through 12 prepare for the new school year.
It don't come easy
You know it don't come easy
don't ask for much, I only want your trust
And you know it don't come easy
Some schools may open-up completely with in-person classes. Other schools may divide the student population in half. 50% of the students will be on campus Monday and Wednesday and the 50% on campus Tuesday and Thursday. Everyone will be a virtual student when they are not on campus. Select schools may initially open 100% virtual with the expectation of switching to on campus learning later in the year. “I only want your trust”.
Covid-19 ~ Schools, Educators, Students, Working Parents, Worried Parents, Teachers, School Support Staff, are all struggling to cope safely with the pandemic. SAFE is the keyword. Students need socialization. Parents need an opportunity to earn money at work. No one wants students to catch Covid-19, bring it home, and spread it to family members. Teachers and school staff do not want to catch Covid-19. Yet, Teaching and Learning are so essential.
Who do you trust? Because, you know it don’t come easy. Emphasize to your child the importance of following the CDC guidelines. Wash your hands frequently, coughing your elbow, wear your mask, social distance, and don’t lick doorknobs. LOL
IN-PERSON CLASSES
• Take your child’s temperature every morning. If your child’s temperature is 100.4⁰ greater do not send your child to school. Generally, check your child for any signs of illness.
• Demonstrate and practice Covid-19 hand washing techniques. Emphasize handwashing before eating, after eating, sneezing, coughing, and adjusting a mask or other cloth face covering.
• Water fountains are off-limits. If the school does not provide bottled water, send your child to school with bottled water.
• Emphasize the Important Precautions and the Basic Precautions:
o Wash and sanitize your hands FREQUENTLY.
o Keep a safe 6-foot physical distance from other students, teachers, and school staff. Reinforce the concept of social distancing with your child.
o WEAR YOUR MASK.
o NO SHARING: Water Bottles, Devices, Pencils, Pens, or Books.
o Use hand sanitizer (with a minimum of 60% alcohol.) Ask the school to confirm that the school sanitizer is an FDA approved product.
Hope, pray, you’ve done your best. Any time anything appears abnormal, keep your child home.
