The National Moment of Remembrance, established by Congress, asks Americans, wherever they are at 3 p.m., local time, on Memorial Day, to pause in an act of national unity for a duration of one minute. The time 3 p.m. was chosen because it is the time when most Americans are enjoying their freedoms on the national holiday. The Moment does not replace traditional Memorial Day events; rather, it is an act of national unity in which all Americans, alone or with family and friends, honor those who died in service to the United States.

Today has unofficially become the beginning of the vacation season. The day has deep roots during the early agricultural period when families would travel distances to gather and celebrate their past families. It later became Decoration Day for those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for their countries and eventually became the Memorial Day holiday.

It has been a privilege to represent those that have served and support our service members.

This privilege has been extended recently by helping many during COVID, reopening, and the current economic climate. Whether it has been helping businesses determine how to handle the numerous regulations over the last year, reopening, or dealing with new issues, it is actually an honor to have helped during these extraordinary times.

With the current uncertainty, keep a positive outlook and remember there is no unsolvable problem.

Travel safe for all those traveling and for those traveling in the future.
