Did you know that if were involved in an auto accident with an uninsured motorist, your own insurance carrier can deny your claim and even fight against you in court if you don't follow certain
notice procedures. Your UM or Uninsured Motorist policy protects you when you have an accident with someone who doesn't have insurance. You must notify your insurance company of not only the accident but of any lawsuit you file against the at fault driver.

That means that if you file a lawsuit against an at fault driver and don't give your carrier notice within their deadline, your carrier could answer the lawsuit on behalf of the party that hit you and seek dismissal of your case.
