I’ve learned that clarity around what truly matters changes everything — how you work, who you work with, and what you’re willing to say yes (or no) to.

Building a legacy isn’t about titles or constant motion. It’s about relationships, alignment, and being intentional with your time and energy. That perspective guides how I run my firm and how I support small business owners and creatives.

I shared more about this long-view approach in my recent Voyage ATL feature on life, values, and legacy.

Resilience isn’t something you learn from a book — it’s forged through lived experience.

Navigating my mother’s health challenges at a young age shaped how I approach career, leadership, and priorities. It reinforced a truth I carry into my work today: we don’t endure hard things just to end up miserable on the other side. We do it so we have choices.

Grateful to Voyage ATL for the opportunity to reflect on how those experiences continue to inform my work with business owners and entrepreneurs.

I recently had the honor of serving as a panelist for the United Way of Greater Atlanta x Housing Plus, Inc. Building Resilient Entrepreneurs Workshop.

Programs like Building Resilient Entrepreneurs (BRE) matter deeply to me. BRE is doing the real work of supporting entrepreneurs and small business owners—especially BIPOC and women-owned businesses—by expanding access to technical skill training, resources, and capital through matched savings incentives.

As a business attorney, I see firsthand how legal clarity, education, and the right support systems can make the difference between surviving and building something sustainable. Being part of conversations that help entrepreneurs strengthen their foundations and navigate growth is why I do this work.

Grateful to United Way of Greater Atlanta and Housing Plus, Inc. for creating space for meaningful dialogue and practical tools that truly meet entrepreneurs where they are.

One of the most important decisions any business owner can make is defining what success actually means to them.
For me, success includes doing excellent work for my clients, maintaining a strong professional reputation, financial stability — and protecting my physical, mental, and emotional health. Once that definition is clear, boundaries are no longer optional; they’re strategic.
I shared how this philosophy shapes my firm, my schedule, and my decision-making in a recent Voyage ATL interview.

Supporting entrepreneurs goes far beyond access to capital—it also means access to education, clarity, and trusted guidance.

That’s why I was grateful to serve as a panelist for the United Way of Greater Atlanta x Housing Plus, Inc. Building Resilient Entrepreneurs Workshop. Programs like BRE are creating real pathways for BIPOC and women-owned businesses by pairing technical skill-building with resources that help founders grow sustainably.

These conversations matter. When entrepreneurs are equipped with the right information and support, they’re better positioned to build resilient businesses and long-term impact.

Thankful to be part of this important work.

I recently had the pleasure of joining the Lawyers Who Care podcast to talk about the kind of legal work that matters most to me.
Much of my practice is centered on supporting entrepreneurs and business owners who need more than just technical legal advice—they need education, honesty, and someone who is truly looking out for their best interests.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned over the years is this: trust and transparency are everything. Our role as attorneys carries real weight, especially when clients are navigating moments of stress or uncertainty.

I left Big Law because I was searching for a more human way to practice.
Thirteen years later, I’m still running a full-service law firm for business owners — but on my terms. Being virtual long before it was common, building systems that protect my time, and defining success beyond revenue have allowed me to grow sustainably without sacrificing quality of life.
I recently sat down with Voyage ATL to talk about life, values, legacy, and what it really takes to build a business that supports the person running it.

How do you know if an attorney is the right fit for you?
I recently had the pleasure of joining the "Lawyers Who Care" podcast where Andrew Samalin and I talked about what clients should expect from a legal relationship—from billing structures and engagement agreements to realistic assessments of risk and outcomes.
I strongly believe that informed clients make better decisions. When you understand how attorneys work, what questions to ask, and what red flags to watch for, you’re in a much stronger position to protect yourself and your business.
If you’re an entrepreneur or business owner navigating legal decisions, I hope this conversation is helpful.

I can’t tell you how many people contact me after a construction project has already gone wrong.
Most contractor disputes don’t start with bad intentions — they start with skipped steps at the beginning.
In the latest "Notes From My Legal Pad," I share key things to do before hiring a contractor, including:
• Verifying the contractor’s legal name
• Confirming licensing and permits
• Requesting insurance before payment
• Pacing payments to completed work
• Using a clear, written contract
These basics apply to both residential and commercial projects — and they can save you time, money, and stress.

I am very glad to close out a busy week. Wednesday was the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution's Annual ADR Institute. I presented Til [Corporate] Death Do Us Part: Mediating and Arbitrating a Business Divorce.

I rounded out the evening with Start:ME Atlanta interviewing entrepreneurs for the 2026 Accelerator Cohort. All of the applicants were wonderful. But my second group was so hyped. It felt more like a prayer meeting. Almost made me forget I had been up since 5:30 am.

Nothing but naps this weekend!
